Michelle East Studio- Memphis Photographer Recent Happenings!

Hope you all had a great Labor Day last weekend! We enjoyed some time off here at the studio to spend the holiday with our families.

So much is happening right now that I do not know where to begin!

Well, let me start by introducing you to a wonderful group called FORCE EMPOWERED- Facing Our Risk of Cancer. www.facingourrisk.org A nonprofit organization for women and families who may be affected by hereditary cancer.

The picture above of the sweet little girl and her mom, is a photograph that I took earlier this year of a breast cancer survivor and her daughter. This family is such an inspiration to me and it was my pleasure to be able to capture this incredible moment for them!

Hi All!

I had a great opportunity this weekend to attend a Pastel Workshop taught by one of my favorite local art teachers Anne Enochs. You can see her work and learn about all of her classes at http://www.anneenochs.com/. I have taken her drawing, pastel and color classes and have learned so much in each!

I am still a better photographer than pastel artist but I had fun and that is all that matters! So broaden your horizons and take a chance, get out of your comfort zone, & learn something new!

On Location in New Orleans- Michelle East Studio

As part of my travel this summer, I went on location to New Orleans, LA. I had not been there in many years and was so pleased to see how well most everything looked after hurricane Katrina. The french quarter was a delight! The food was excellent, the architecture enchanting and the people charming!

Head Shots for Writer- Paris Tn, Michelle East Studio

Enjoyed a great time in Paris, Tn on Kentucky Lake this past week. I had the pleasure of photographing a writer named Linda White. She needed some head shots for an upcoming publications called White Cocoon.

We met at the largest winery between Memphis and Nashville. http://www.pariswinery.com/ It was a hot day but that did not deter us! We walked the vineyard and found some wonderful areas to photograph. The vineyard offers daily wine tasting of their fantastic wines and made the journey well worth the drive!

New Artwork Memphis Artist Michelle East

Hi everyone! I have just returned from a workshop held in St. Francisville, LA. Right outside of Baton Rouge. At this workshop I had the pleasure of learning under Corel Painter Master Jeremy Sutton. www.Jeremysutton.com

to see his wonderful work! I learned so much about color and tones in my work. Can't wait to continue practicing what he taught us, though I will never do him justice.

One of the paintings that I did while at the workshop was of this gentleman John. I photographed him in window light inside of a historic plantation Butler-Greenwood.

He came dressed in his reenactment clothes complete with gun and saber!

After the photo session, I painted him in Corel Painter X. Now that I am home, the next step is to print this painting out on canvas and add some texture with my pallette knife and oil paints. The finished work will be 20x24 combined media on canvas!

Maternity, Baby, Newborn Photography Memphis Tennessee

What a great morning I had with these two sweet twin boys!

I just loved how beautiful mom looked when she snuggled up to her babies.
